See for yourself why clients are calling their private trip to Sri Lanka “amazing”…..
Day 1 Arrival / Colombo
Your arrival in Colombo marks the start of your experience on the Isle of Serendib. In the arrival hall of Bandaranayake International Airport, you will meet your English speaking host and driver. We take pride in selecting professional and personable drivers so you will feel immediately at ease.
Once outside the airport, you’ll be enthralled by the warm temperatures and the whisper of palm leaves colliding in the gentle breeze. Visually you’ll be pleasantly overwhelmed with color and greenery.
You’ll be taken directly to your hotel to refresh yourself before your Colombo city tuk-tuk safari. While touring, you will visit the magnificent stone edifice at Independence Square which commemorates Sri Lanka’s independence in 1948. Then tour the Gangarama Temple which is the oldest Buddhist temple in Colombo.
If time permits, the Red Mosque in the bustling market area known as Pettah is a must- see. Nearby, the Dutch hospital is considered to be the oldest building in the Colombo Fort area dating back to Dutch colonialism. Newly refurbished, it offers the best of dining, shopping and spa. Enjoy a British high tea at the world-famous Galle Face hotel or wrap up the city tour with a stroll oceanside on the Galle Face Green as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean.
Day 2 Weligama Area
After breakfast, you will leisurely make your way to the beautiful southern coast of Sri Lanka. Dotted with quaint southern villages, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in the rich culture. Strolls on the beach, soaking in the sun and whale and dolphin watching in the right season will produce an experience that will not be forgotten.
Day 3 Weligama & Galle
Your day excursion takes you to the city of Galle. This city is famous for Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The historic site has been restored since the Tsunami and is to this day a popular attraction in Sri Lanka. Inside the fort, you will find a blend of old and new with boutique shops and hotels each taking their stand inside the old colonial fort.
Day 4 Weligama
If you desire a day to sunbathe and relax, you could enjoy leisurely beach strolls or a day poolside. In the afternoon, you could take part in a culinary class or visit the sea turtle hatchery nearby. It’s your experience – so you make this day count and do it your way!
Day 5 Yala Safari
Experience the incredible wildlife of Sri Lanka’s Yala National Park during this private safari. Scout for elephants, bears, leopards, and deer in a park that is great for up-close encounters. For a unique “glamping” experience, we can offer luxurious tent accommodations for you to enjoy the great outdoors without forfeiting the comforts you love.
Day 6 Yala & Katharagama
Today you take a brief journey to Katharagama. Katharagama is a multi-religious sacred city and is a ‘must’ if you are traveling in the last week of July! Here you get to experience one of the biggest religious festivals in Sri Lanka with a parade of light, dancing, music and even elephants! Outside of the festive season you can tour the large Buddhist temple grounds which contain a Hindu kovil and a Islamic mosque within the same complex.
Day 7 Ella
The relaxing hilltop village of Ella benefits from a more temperate climate than much of the rest of country thanks to its high elevation. The pleasant temperatures make the scenery surrounding Ella particularly lush and diverse, with cloud forests and tea plantations covering the hills. Take lots of walks across this verdant landscape during your holiday in Ella to see many old temples, waterfalls, and popular places to soak up stunning views of the scenery.
In one day, you can take advantage of the many picturesque locations such as the Demodara 9 Arches Bridge and Ravana Falls as well as visit Amba Estate which is known for it’s artisanal teas & coffee.
Day 8 Ella
On your second day here, there are hiking opportunities. You could visit Little Adams peak and/or Ella rock, then make your way back to the hotel to relax in the beautiful lush scenery.
Day 9 Haputale
The town of Haputale hugs a mountain ridge at 1,431 meters above sea level in the southern edge of the Hill Country. The population of Haputale is just over 5,000 inhabitants. On a clear night it is possible to spot lighthouses on the distant southern coast. This magnificent view, which is unhindered by light pollution, is often framed by the Milky Way stretching across the night sky. During the day you could visit tea factories and watch the process from plucking the tea to packaging.
Day 10 Haputale
You have the option of staying inside and relaxing in the comforts of your hotel before getting back to the city life or visiting Lipton’s seat. This is the observation point where Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton enjoyed surveying his burgeoning tea empire in a time long gone but not forgotten.
Day 11 Negombo
Dependent upon your departure time you could enjoy a walk on the beach or any number of beach activities. If you’re wanting to interact with the local culture, you could explore the Negombo fish market. You may also want to try a Catamaran ride before you get ready for your return home.
